Back in my day, we flew a flag for freedom—at least that’s what we said. But for some folks, the flag ain’t just a symbol. It’s a shield.

That’s the way of the United Bamboo Gang.

Born in Taiwan in the 1950s, this crew didn’t come up selling whiskey or cards—they came up selling loyalty. To the government. To power. To whoever let ’em swing a club with impunity.

You see, this gang wasn’t some street rabble. These were patriotic enforcers. They beat dissidents. Broke protests. Ran clubs, casinos, smuggling rings—and still had cops saluting them in the alley. A kind of nationalism you couldn’t vote against.

And like any smart syndicate, they moved global.

Today, United Bamboo has operations in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Bangkok, and beyond.

They traffic guns, meth, people. They launder money through Chinese business networks, casinos, and tech fronts.

They don’t brag. They embed.

Like bamboo—flexible, quiet, and damn near impossible to root out.

But here’s what gets me:

They still claim honor. Still wave the Republic of China flag. Still pretend they’re patriots first and gangsters second.

Let me tell you something: if you murder and extort for a cause, you ain’t a soldier. You’re just a well-dressed thug with a speech writer.

How do you fight that kind of mob?

Call out the cover: when governments wink at gangs, say it loud. Squeeze the business fronts: follow the cash. It never lies. And don’t get fooled by the flag. Criminals can be patriots—but that don’t make ’em right.

Power without virtue? That’s the most dangerous gang of all.

Until next tide,
