Every empire crumblesâsome fast, some loud, and some in silence followed by screams. Thatâs whatâs happening in Mexico.
Back in my day, when a gang lost its leader, the crew either vanished or fought until the strongest wore the crown. But the Sinaloa Cartel? After El Chapo got caged, they didnât break. They multiplied.
Now itâs a snake with too many headsâand all of âem bite.
Thereâs the Chapitos (El Chapoâs sons), young and wild, fighting for blood and legacy. Thereâs Mayo Zambada, the ghost general, never captured, keeping order with old-school smuggler rules. And there are rogue cells, ex-sicarios, and mutinous lieutenants running their own shows from Sonora to Chiapas.
The result? A storm of violence. Cartel-on-cartel ambushes. Civilians caught in the middle. Synthetic drugs like fentanyl flooding the north. And a government playing whack-a-mole with men armed better than their soldiers.
Truth is, Sinaloa ainât a cartel anymore. Itâs a condition. And it spreads.
Iâve seen river gangs splinter like thisâbrother against brother once the loot got big. But this isnât just banditry. Itâs what happens when you let crime become infrastructure. When the state doesnât provide, the cartel builds schools, fixes roads, pays bills. And folks look the other way because at least someone is in charge.
Want to stop the spread?
Hit the logistics: the chem labs, the ports, the pilots. Starve the splinters. Let them fight, but cut off the fuel. And show the towns what real protection looks likeâbecause folks will side with the devil if he keeps the lights on.
This ainât just Mexicoâs problem. Itâs everyoneâs. Donât wait âtil it sails across your own river.
Until next tide,
