They say the Camorra isnât one gangâitâs a family tree where every branch has a knife. And brother, that tree grows wild in Naples.
Unlike those cartels that rose with dope or the mobs that lived off bootlegging, the Camorraâs roots go back centuriesâolder than the U.S. Navy, older than me. They donât need a flashy name. They just are. Embedded in neighborhoods, businesses, politics. You donât âjoinâ the Camorra. You grow into it like a weed through broken stone.

And theyâve made trash their treasure.
You think smuggling whiskeyâs dirty? Try the Camorraâs gameâillegal toxic waste dumping for industrial contracts, poisoning fields and families from Naples to Caserta. Theyâll bury chemicals behind schools, in farmland, under roads. Then sell you produce grown in the same soil.
That ainât crime. Thatâs slow-motion murder.
But thatâs the genius of itâkilling you softly, while taking your money and calling it business.
And while the headlines talk about their scams or cocaine routes to South America, itâs the community grip thatâs the real power. These clans give jobs, pay rent, fund weddings. So when the cops come? Doors stay shut. Streets go quiet. You canât arrest what no one will name.
Sound familiar? We had backwoods clans doing the same in Kentuckyâcontrolling counties like kingdoms. But the Camorra? They made it art.
You want to hit them? Donât just chase the foot soldiers. Go after the contractors, the shipping firms, the ghost companies buying farmland with dirty euros. Use satellite scans. Audit the trash routes. Follow the sickness.
And you damn well better earn the peopleâs trust. If a mother has to pick between feeding her kid or staying loyal to the state, sheâll pick the gang who delivers bread. Every time.
Justice has to move faster than garbage trucks filled with poisonâor the mafia wins before you ever suit up.
Until next tide,
