Pirate Sam Mason

January 3, 1777 — Battle of Princeton

Washington didn’t stop with Trenton. Cornwallis came down on him, hard, and thought he had the army cornered.

But Washington slipped away in the night, marched around the British flank, and struck Princeton at dawn. Surprised redcoats scrambled, and for once it was them running.

I’ll give Washington this—he had the instincts of a hunter. He knew when to retreat and when to pounce. Princeton showed he wasn’t just surviving—he was outfoxing the empire.

The Revolution wasn’t won that day. But it stopped dying.

— Captain Samuel Mason, Washington County Militia
